Abra Cadabra

Alakazam!

And for my next trick, I shall need a volunteer!

Ah, yes! You'll do, you'll do!

I am Magic Man, KGN-006! My magic will awe the mind and trick the eyes. And it always will. A true magician never reveals his secrets.

bow-to-your-king:

King nearly leaped off of the couch upon hearing Magic once again, straightening himself out and speaking calmly. Or as calmly as he could, despite being jittery. He looked Magic over, speaking calmly. “You look nice. Perfect for our mission.. Yes. Mission. We better return these to their respective humans.” He beckoned him out of the apartment.

“We need to hurry, otherwise we’ll be late to the show and miss those humans.”

"We must’ve have that!" Magic followed his king out of the apartment, leaning just back enough to close and lock it as he did. One would have to note the extensive locks all on the outside of the door, which made it look like one of his pretty parlor tricks rather than a rational entrance. He picked up the pace to get aside King. "They shall be so disappointed if they miss such a wonderful show. I’ve only seen it on television, I can’t imagine how sad it would be to miss it in person!"

A mission, a mission. It’s just a mission.

It isn’t anything scandalous, please! The poor young lady simply fainted during one of my more daring tricks, and I personally made sure they was not left on the floor.

WHAT MAGIC TRICK WERE YOU PERFORMING THAT MADE MISS KALINKA BLUSH AND THEN FAINT? YOU WEREN’T PULLING YOUR PORT OUT IN FRONT OF HER, WERE YOU?

Why of course not! I would never do such an uncouth thing! I was merely attempting my first performance of sawing a robot in half! Perhaps it was one of her father’s who volunteered for my grand trick, and she was simply nervous?

…yes. What IS my magician doing with Miss Kalinka.
WHAT IS MY MAGICIAN DOING WITH MISS KALINKA?
WHAT. IS. MY MAGICIAN. DOING. WITH MISS KALINKA?

bow-to-your-king:

King was relieved that his dear magician was to a-company him on this ‘mission’. He bowed slightly and walked into the room, having to duck slightly to walk in, as his height was a bit of a problem…no, not a problem…an enhancement that humans had to get used to. King smiled a bit and looked around Magic’s room, speaking in a bit more of a relaxed tone. “Take all the time you need, Magic.”

He sat down on the couch nearby and smiled. “Don’t need the humans that dropped these, uh…tickets, to think we’re slobs right?” King liked how Magic decorated his apartment, though he felt it could use more chess pieces…why didn’t prestidigitation ever use chess anyway? Something he’d never understand, perhaps, as he wasn’t a magician…though he had his way with words. He could very well be a magician with words.

It hadn’t exactly cost King that much for the tickets; he knew the ticket robot as a good friend…good friend meaning he reprogrammed him to print the ticket just for him, as well as ban humans in that section for that particular night, as well as employ an entirely robotic staff.

He couldn’t help but smirk a bit to himself as he pictured the entire ‘mission’ playing out, from 0 to 1.

Magic bowed his King in and waited for him to reach the living room before rushing off to his room in poorly restrained haste. Oh, he had to look nicer.  Everything had to look nicer. So what if this couldn’t possibly be a date by any stretch of his ever hopeful imagination? He had to look just perfect!

He bustled around his room, failing to not knock things around and make a little noise as he searched out some nicer accessories. He whisked his bow tie from his dressing table and set it perfectly on his armor. He searched around for his eye mask, which he’d been to distracted to don earlier when he was simply reading a book and not expecting company, finally finding it in his drawer and throwing it on as well. He quickly dusted the smudges that weren’t even there from his top hat and made sure it was facing the right way, even if only he could perceive which way that actually was. And his cane, he must simply have his cane to tie the look together. One last look in the mirror confirm to him his absolutely dapper appearance. Perfect.

He peeked out of his room, trying to spot King in the living room. Now don’t make a fool out of yourself, Magic. No, no, this is a mission. He said it himself. You must be the most proper court magician for your king. And with that he strutted with all his usual flair out into the living room, propping his weight onto his cane with a little pose. “Ready as ready can be, your majesty! I hope this shall be sufficient for the evening.”

[[father's day was busy :B;;;]]

bow-to-your-king:

King jumped slightly at seeing Magic, fighting back his blush, managing to speak as calmly and casually as possible. He was a master of being as cool as a cucumber, after all, despite being a chaotic mess inside. It was enough to make his oil pressure go up sometimes.

“Well, I decided to stop by and uh…well…I found these Cirque du Soleil tickets at the local arena…near the ticket booth…”

He got defensive immediately. “YOU KNOW, I DIDN’T BUY THEM OR ANYTHING……they’re the best seats in the house. I-I-I WAS THINKING YOU MIGHT WANT TO HOLD ONE..AND…and I can hold one…and we can go to the arena at 8pm, about when the show starts…and find who these tickets belong to…”

He fidgeted. “AND IF WE DON’T FIND WHO THEY BELONG TO WE’LL SIT IN THEIR SEATS AND WAIT FOR THEM. Oh um…if they’re not there, we can go to this nice restaurant I know of called Le Cirque and wait for them…I might even order you some food while we wait.”

He crossed his arms and tried to look uninterested. “But…that’s…if you’re not busy or anything…it’s a, uh…a mission. Very important to return these tickets.”

…it sounded more like a date than anything.

Magic simply stared up at his flustered king. This was odd. He thought the palm reading had put King in enough of a state, but now, now he seemed positively explosive with nervous energy. He almost sounded like he was… asking him out?

Unfathomable! He knew he was mysterious and plenty attractive, but what a silly thought to enter his head. King, master of the future world, asking him out. What even caused him to think that? Besides that strange manner of talking. Oh, the more he thought of it, the more he felt this awkward mix of resignation, confusion, hope, and disappointment rising in his chest. It must just be a mission, of course. A mission to return tickets to most likely humans. A mission with dinner and a show. A show he’d been dying to see for ages now, and made little secret of his affections for. What was he to think?

It took a moment for Magic to decide just how he should acknowledge the outbursts, because there was no way he was going to keep that little chuff of uneased amusement in for long and he knew he would need an explanation for it. ”Ahm, hm,” he put his hand up to his mask to stifle himself as best he could, “y-your majesty! I am never too busy to take on a mission personally delivered from you yourself.” He tried to straighten dutifully. “I would be honored to accompany you on this… mission, yes! Mission. But I would look so out of place! Would there be a moment free for me to tidy up my armour? It’d take only a minute, you can wait inside!” He gestured inside, trying to retain his calm romanticized demeanor.

bow-to-your-king:

King was staring at a pair of tickets he had purchased a few weeks ago. He had been sitting on them for some time…and now it felt right to use them. His majesty stood at Magic Mans apartment door…pretty obvious, amongst the ones on this floor. His looked like a playing card, and the doorbell looked like a coin. Ringing the doorbell, King was thinking of what to say as he held these very valuable tickets…

He was even dressed differently: his golden helmet and armor was shined up as bright as it could be, he wore his finest, deep purple cape, made of a luxurious and soft silk from the orient…and most importantly, he had an uncharacteristically bright red blush on his face as he held onto the tickets, waiting for Magic to answer his door.

How unusual it was, to see this great King fidget as he did, like a child waiting for the ice cream truck with his money…King did the same just now, fidgeting with the tickets in silence.

Magic had been sitting in the living room of his ornately, perhaps even ostentatiously, decorated apartment. He thumbed through yet another page of his trick book with the slowing donning realization that he’dalready learned every single trick it’s pages detailed. Another fallen soldier on his shelf of books he’d long since outgrown. “I’ll have to try an find another one, but it’s getting so hard. I mustn’t let anyone outdo me.” Or perhaps king would find a new court magician? He dreaded the thought and shelved the book with a little sigh. It was so hard to feel like he was ahead of the game when he felt like the next big trick was but seconds away from discovery.

But all that ceased when he heard his doorbell. He paused, looked at the clock with a blink, and swiftly made for the door anyway. He made sure to grab his top hat on the way, even if he scarcely had the time to put it on before he opened the door with a half-sung, “Yeees?” There was only the flash of gold where he expected to see any normal-level face. His king!

"Oh, my apologies, your majesty! I didn’t expect your fine company!" He quickly bowed and put on his hat, hoping he didn’t look too out of sorts from spending all day studying. Because clearly being without one’s hat was so terribly out of sorts. “What is it that brings you to my humble abode, my liege?” He thought he saw something in King’s hands, but respectfully fought the curiosity to look any longer.
